The event officially kicked off with Sporting Director Dennis te Kloese making his first appearance in Southern California since joining Chivas USA and Chivas Guadalajara in December. Chivas USA is in a good moment and we are happy to be supported by the brand Chivas that allows us to have high expectations te Kloese said. In early preseason Chelis announced Dan Kennedy as the team captain. With 13 players returning for another season with the Red-and-White Kennedy is excited about the changes in the team and the start of the new season. A lot of change has happened in the past five months with Chivas USA and with change comes great opportunity said team captain Dan Kennedy in his opening speech. I m extremely excited how preseason has gone with the coaching staff and all the new players. We have the opportunity to prove something very special not only to ourselves and the press but to this league. I m really optimistic and excited for where we are going. After building much expectation the media and special guests were ready to see what they were waiting for Chivas USA s secondary jersey. The 22 year-old has already set his sights on improving professionally and helping put the Goats in the top spots in the standings this season. After hearing that countryman and former LDU Quito teammate Victor Estupi an predicted he d score 33 goals in the 2010 season for Chivas USA and was only able to score one the rather quiet Bola os did not want to publicize his goal prediction. But he did tell cdchivasusa.com that it will be a higher number than last season s. In my mind I ve already told myself how many goals I want to score this season Bola os said. I don t want to jinx myself but I m going for a much higher number than last year. 5 In 2012 Bola os scored three goals and added four assists in the 24 games (21 starts) that he competed in for the Red-and-White. Although one of his goals was a game-winner last year s numbers were not great according to Bola os who says he was not playing in his natural position and injuries cut his playing time. In preseason Bola os finished as the team s top goal scorer scoring six goals in five games notching two against the Santa Clarita Storm and South Korea s Gangwon FC and adding another in the 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire. We re working towards what coach [Chelis] wants from us Bola os said. We re making progress in every training session and every game. Last season was a learning experience for me. Obviously in my first year in the league I had to get used to a different style of play and a new country. But this year it s going to be different.
