He thought her attractive profile clear skin and long shiny brown hair made her look like one of those girls on the shampoo commercials. Her arms were tan but there was only a hint of pinkness on her cheeks. He wondered if she was as nice as she looked. Probably not he thought. Ted Duke s story Never Too Late is a nostalgic story about potential high school sweethearts who finally make a connection. But is it too late To read more go to www.pilcrowdagger.com subscriptions. There I saw something that activated my sweat glands. At the bottom of the dirt driveway leading up to the cabin was a figure that can only be described as electrifying. The intensity of the light emanating from it caused me to squint. As I did I was able to make out its facial features. Michael C. Keith s story Blaze Man Meets Aqua Man is a comic tale about super heroes and how they deal with their personal issues. To read more go to www.pilcrowdagger.com subscriptions. There s no way that will hold Quit worrying flag poles are so solid. It ll hold. He looked closer at the pole in question protruding from the side of the balcony. It swam in his vision moving from connected to the bannister to floating freely in the space above the neatly manicured hedge garden below. Everything about the wedding day had been planned around that departure. The fancy church wedding and the lavish reception complete with a horse drawn carriage to take them between the venues gave the fairy tale air that Denise had prized so much. Their invitations read Dreams do come true. Daniel LeBoeuf s story Honeymoon in Rome tells the story of love and the first discoveries between couples on their journey of a lifetime. In her spare time Tara loves to dream about all of the baking she ll do and naps she ll take when she ever gets spare time. Pillow Talk P&D According to your website you used to work in the brokerage business. What made you transition to writing Tara I hated my job LOL Actually it s still a shock to me that I no longer work in the brokerage business after fourteen years at the same job. It s been over three years since I quit to be a full-time writer and I m still amazed this is my life. Basically I wrote and self-published my first book thinking only my family and friends would read it and through word-ofmouth and people sharing it all over social media that book blew up within a few months of publishing it. At that point I made the decision to quit my job and focus on writing. It made me happy and it gave me something live for. Whereas driving an hour into the city to sit in a cubicle all day made me want to shove a fork in my eye. P&D What did you start writing first novels short stories or poetry Tara I started writing poetry at a young age. I believe my husband still has all of the cheesy love poems I wrote him all through high school I was a firm believer in writing poems that always rhymed. I m sure I would be completely mortified if I looked at any of those things now P&D Are you self-published or traditionally published Tara I m what you d call a hybrid author meaning I m self-published as well as traditionally published. The annoying kind of customer we don t really help because we only handle dealers but sometimes they sneak through somehow. He drones on about the parts of his radio that don t work while I take a deep breath and roll my eyes toward the sky. It s now 5 10 pm and he is still going on. He won t let me get a word in and won t stop complaining. I stand up to look in my bosses office. She is still there probably recording this call so I can t hang up on him. I finally tell him that he will need to contact his local dealer and he says Why didn t you tell me at the beginning of the call That could have saved me some time. In each issue of Pilcrow & Dagger one story is chosen to be read as a podcast. In this issue we chose Another Realm by Ben Gardner. This is a story of a man who escapes one world and finds he must escape another. Be sure to take a few minutes to listen and enjoy. To read more go to www.pilcrowdagger.com subscriptions. It goes deeper though. I can t stand light foods skim milk tastes like cow water and I m almost twice as heavy as my fianc . Chris is a bit over six foot to my 5 3 but then he s got 29 years to my 24. He s also the man I m considering leaving but we ve got an entire house-sitting s worth of time to work that out. Rafael S. W writes a heartbreaking story Light Weight about the insecurities and misconnections that plague our lives and relationships. To read more go to www.pilcrowdagger.com subscriptions.
